• Money magazine rated State College as one of the best place to live among northeast small cities.

Education
By far, the region is best known as the home of Penn State University, the largest institution of higher learning in the state.  On the K-12 level, five school districts serve most of the county, each one regularly beating state averages in test scores and graduation rates.

Arts and Culture
Theatre fans can enjoy several Broadway shows at the Eisenhower Auditorium at Penn State University, which also attracts a variety of other national and international musical and theatrical performances.  The Bryce Jordan Center features concerts by some of the nation’s biggest selling touring acts each year.

Outdoor sporting enthusiasts love the region, which offers some of the best trout fishing and hunting in the state. Hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts can enjoy several local trails, and golfers, too, will find the recreational opportunities thrilling as several public and private courses exist in the local area.

For those who prefer spectator sports, State College offers affordable fun at a Single-A baseball game by the Spikes, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Also, Penn State University hosts Division 1 college athletics in more than 25 sports, including Big 10 football.
