Armstrong Great Lawn & Municipal Campus
Cranberry Township wanted to enhance their municipal campus by providing a central gathering space for recreation and connection. They also wanted to create pedestrian access to this space, in keeping with their long-term commitment to walkability and multi-modal access throughout the township.
Our team developed a master site plan for the township’s municipal center that shifts parking toward the rear of the building in order to create room for an amenity-rich green space along the high-profile frontage of the building. The space features:
• an urban fountain,
• relocated library garden and StoryWalk
• a designated area for food trucks,
• large lawn space for recreational programming, and
• several, informal seating areas in front of the building where people can work or have lunch.
All of these spaces are connected by internal walking paths.
Our team also providing engineering services for the space, which included designing stormwater management facilities, intersection improvements, and expanded sidewalk connections along Rochester Road.
