Regional Branding

The Claysville Area is a unique place with communities connected by shared interests and valuable assets such as our natural and recreation areas, and the I-70 and US-40 corridors. We have come to recognize the benefits of cooperation between communities in terms of attracting economic development or funding resources. The Claysville Area can live up to its full potential only when we pull together in the pursuit of a common vision.

Who are we?

Our area in southwestern Washington County can be characterized as the “Claysville Area” or the “Western Gateway” to Washington County. But how do we see ourselves?

The Regional Branding Strategy is a first look at how the Claysville Area defines its own identity.

What is Regional Branding & the Regional Branding Strategy?

Regional branding is a set of standards that describe a common identity, and an umbrella that communities within the region can use to promote themselves.

The Regional Branding Strategy is one step in the Master Revitalization Plan. During this step, branding concepts are developed to explore the synergizing potential of marketing the southwestern Washington County region.

The concepts will be inspired by the public engagement process and reviewed by stakeholders and the public but will not be implemented during this plan.

The Claysville Area Branding Strategy will include:

1. Branding alternatives that describe and embody the region’s history, DNA, and the assets we want to leverage to achieve our full future potential,

2. Presentation of those alternatives for public input

3. Recommendations on the synergizing potential of the preferred concept.
