Chris Dellinger Named Leader in Construction & Real Estate

Chris Dellinger accepts an award for his leadership in the construction and real estate industry from Ernest Long, editor of the Central Penn Business JournalChris Dellinger was recently honored by the Central Penn Business Journal as one of the region’s Leaders in Construction & Real Estate.

The journal recognized 20 individuals and companies that its editors say are “changing the landscape of Central Pennsylvania through design, construction, engineering, lending, and innovation.” Dellinger and the other honorees were featured in the September 30 issue of the publication and received their award at a ceremony on October 27th.

Dellinger is a licensed professional engineer and a land development group manager at Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc (HRG).  His imprint is all over residential and commercial development throughout Central Pennsylvania and can be seen in recent projects like Meadow Lane Farms in North Cornwall Township, Heritage Business Park in Manchester Township, and the Hearthside at Cross Keys Senior Living in Oxford Township. He has also played a key role in the development of many of the warehouses and industrial developments along the I-81 corridor.

Andrew Kenworthy, HRG’s chief operating officer, has worked alongside Chris for more than 20 years and says this recognition is well deserved: “Chris approaches his role with pride and integrity. He understands the impact of construction on neighboring real estate and tries to provide solutions that accomplish the goals of the individual owner and the community as a whole. He always takes the natural environment into account, striving to avoid negative impacts to natural resources and complement local ecosystems.”

Erin Letavic Recognized by Central Penn Business Journal as a Woman of Influence

Central Penn Business Journal  recognized Erin Letavic, a senior project manager at Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc., as a 2022 Women of Influence honoree at a celebration at the Harrisburg Hilton on June 30. Erin is also profiled alongside other honorees in the publication’s June 24 issue.

Women of Influence honors high-achieving women for their career accomplishments. They are selected based on their professional experience, community involvement, leadership and a commitment to mentoring.

Letavic is an accomplished civil engineer focused on water quality.  She was recently appointed by Governor Wolf to represent Pennsylvania on the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Science & Technical Advisory Committee, which offers technical guidance on policy and resources and facilitates cooperation between research institutions and agencies within the watershed.

She also serves as coordinator for more than a third of the counties participating in the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Countywide Action Program.  In this role, she brings together a diverse coalition of stakeholders – from agriculture, industry, education, local government, and environmental non-profits – to meet Chesapeake Bay nutrient and sediment reduction goals.

Bridgeport Transportation and Land Use Study Receives Planning Award

HRG was part of a team that was honored this week at the Places 2040 Planning Leadership Awards. Our project, the Bridgeport Transportation and Land Use Study, was recognized in the Thinking Beyond Borders category. Thinking Beyond Borders is one of five “Big Ideas” in Lancaster County’s comprehensive plan (otherwise known as places2040). It promotes cooperation across traditional boundaries to achieve regional goals, and the Bridgeport Transportation and Land Use Study exemplifies this approach.

Bridgeport began as a historic village and gateway for travel between Lancaster’s city neighborhoods and its rural landscapes, dating as far back as the 1800s. Today, it encompasses portions of four municipalities: the City of Lancaster and East Lampeter, West Lampeter, and Lancaster Townships. These four municipalities worked together on a shared vision for the area’s transportation infrastructure, trails, and land use policies in order to enhance walkability, reduce congestion, and create vibrant spaces for the community to enjoy.

HRG provided transportation planning services and cost estimates for the creation of this study. Derck & Edson led public engagement and provided streetscape and land planning services. Town Planning Partnership, LLC, assisted with land planning and public engagement. All municipalities and the Lancaster County Planning Department provided representatives for the steering committee. Over 800 local community members provided essential input/feedback as part of the planning effort.

We’re humbled to be recognized among so many great projects at the Places 2040 award ceremony, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this project team.

Bob Grubic Receives Professional Achievement Award from Villanova University

Please join us in congratulating our CEO Bob Grubic, who recently received a Professional Achievement Award from Villanova University’s College of Engineering. He’s shown here with Dr. Michele Marcolongo, the Dean of the College of Engineering at Villanova, who presented the award to him.

Bob was chosen for this honor by the University’s Engineering Alumni Society, and his name will be featured with past and future honorees on a wall of plaques outside the civil engineering classrooms.

He graduated from Villanova in 1973 and immediately joined a small Harrisburg-based engineering firm by the name of Herbert Associates. Today, that firm bears his name and has grown to employ more than 300 engineers, planners, landscape architects, surveyors, environmental scientists, and financial specialists in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. His work as an engineer has helped to shape the infrastructure of Harrisburg and the surrounding area for almost 50 years, and we are all so happy to see him get this recognition from an institution that helped to shape the engineer and business leader he has become. Congratulations, Bob!

Bob Grubic to Be Honored as ICON by Central Penn Business Journal

Bob GrubicWe’re so happy to share that our CEO Bob Grubic is being recognized as an ICON by the Central Penn Business Journal.  His name appears in an ad in this week’s edition featuring all of the 2021 honorees, and he’ll be formally recognized at the award ceremony next month.

Bob has played an instrumental role in making HRG the company it is today, and his work has significantly shaped the landscape of Central Pennsylvania and beyond. Jason Hinz Honored as One of Engineering’s Top Young Professionals

Jason HinzJason Hinz is being honored by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine as one of the Top Young Professionals in the construction and design industry.  He is profiled alongside the other honorees in the February issue of ENR’s Mid-Atlantic edition.

Hinz is a civil group manager at Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG).  He oversees a team of almost 30 professionals who primarily provide municipal engineering support to local communities and also assist with water quality and stormwater management needs.

He is also committed to serving his community.  Hinz is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and volunteers his time planting trees and cleaning up litter.

HRG’s civil practice area leader Matt Bonanno says, “Jason inspires and motivates his team with a calm and thoughtful demeanor, and he regularly receives glowing reviews of his work from his clients.  We are grateful to have him on the HRG team, and we’re happy to see him recognized by ENR alongside a very talented group of industry peers.”

Mike Kreiger Named Geomatics Group Manager at HRG

Mike Kreiger, PLSMike Kreiger has been promoted to Geomatics Group Manager at Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG)  He previously served as senior project manager and will now assume new responsibilities for marketing as well as staff training and development. He will continue to serve his existing clients as project manager.

HRG’s Geomatics Group assists clients with the gathering, storage, and analysis of spatial information.  Current services include surveying, mapping, and geographic information systems development.

Kreiger is a registered professional land surveyor in Pennsylvania and Delaware.  He has almost 30 years of experience in the field and in the management of survey crews.  He is also a former president of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors (PSLS).

Route 39 Intersection Improvements Honored with Road & Bridge Safety Award

West Hanover Township received a Road & Bridge Safety Award Friday for improvements that HRG designed at the intersection of Route 39 with Douglas and Devonshire Heights Roads. This location had been the site of several rear-end and angle accidents due to poor intersection alignment and sight distance deficiencies.  HRG realigned the intersection, installed a northbound right turn lane along Route 39, enhanced advance signing and pavement markings, and installed a flashing yellow control beacon.  We also increased the separation between this intersection and a second intersection where Douglas Road met Devonshire Heights Road. This second intersection had been less than 100 feet away from the Route 39 intersection, creating the opportunity for confusion and conflict between drivers.

Our civil practice area leader Matt Bonanno and our traffic team leader Eric Stump attended a brief ceremony at the intersection where West Hanover Township received their award from the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association (PHIA) and the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors. The Road & Bridge Safety Award is given annually to townships that have completed road or bridge improvements in the prior year that increased public safety.  It is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association, and PennDOT.

Josh Fox Honored as One of Engineering’s Top Young Professionals

Josh Fox is being honored by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine as one of the Top Young Professionals in the construction and design industry.  He is profiled alongside the other honorees in the February issue of ENR’s Mid-Atlantic edition.

2017 Top Young Professional Justin Mendinsky presents a plaque to this year’s honoree Josh Fox.

Fox is the practice area leader for the water and wastewater service group at Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc.  He oversees a team of more than 50 professionals providing planning, design and construction phase services to public and private utilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region and is responsible for the group’s growth and strategy.

He is a member of several industry organizations, including the Central Pennsylvania Water Quality Association, the Eastern Pennsylvania Water Pollution Control Operators Association, the Water Environment Federation, and the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association.  He is also working with the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Water Works Association on an innovative initiative to address the labor shortage in the utility industry and the difficulty military veterans have in transferring their valuable experience to the workplace when they return home.

Fox is an active member of the military himself, serving as a Captain in the 28th Infantry Division.  He has earned numerous service and leadership awards, including the Bronze Star during his deployment in Iraq and the Order of Saint Maurice for his lasting contributions to the US Army Infantry.

HRG’s Chief Operating Officer Andrew Kenworthy says, “Josh is very deserving of this honor. His relentless effort and tireless commitment inspires others to work harder, and he is a trusted confidant who offers wise counsel to his peers on both personal and professional issues.”
