Picture Your Future at HRG

These are the faces of young professionals at HRG: attending meetings, working in the field, collaborating with teammates, networking at industry events.  Is this how you envision your future? Join the HRG team and picture yourself:

Learning and Collaborating

When you graduate from college, one phase of learning ends, and another begins.  You have the knowledge and the skills to succeed; now you need to know how to apply them in the real world.  HRG helps you define your career goals and shows you a clear path to achieve them.

“I want to be a project manager and a municipal engineer.  My supervisors know that, and they give me opportunities to learn more about managerial tasks and municipal representation.  I’m not going at it blindly; they give me increasing responsibility and guide me toward my goals.”

JJ Robinson

HRG also provides reimbursement for coursework or training programs that team members complete outside of HRG: whether it’s a PE exam prep course or attendance at a multi-day industry conference.

“HRG started sending me to PENNTEC (the Pennsylvania Water Environment Association’s annual technical conference) only a year after I joined the firm.  I didn’t see a lot of people my age there, and I think it says a lot about HRG that they gave me that opportunity.”

Caleb Krauter

Many of our team members have used the tuition reimbursement benefit to earn an MBA or second college degree.

When you join the HRG team as a young graduate, you can be sure you’ll be given the training and support you need to grow as a professional throughout your career: mentors, networking opportunities with peers, training, and ample opportunity for advancement. Almost two dozen people who started at HRG after college are in management roles today, including our president Jason Fralick and our CEO Bob Grubic.

What types of work can I expect to do on a daily basis?

Making an Impact in the Community

As a member of the HRG team, your work is more than analyzing data and designing plans.  Your work is improving the quality of life in local communities. You can:

  • Enhance the safety of our water supply and transportation networks.
  • Promote health and well-being with parks and recreational facilities that support body and mind.
  • Connect people and places with roads and bridges and gathering places.
  • Promote strong economies by supporting the development of new businesses and increasing property value.

You’ll do work with a real sense of purpose and you’ll see the impact of your work every day in the community where you live.

You’ll also have the opportunity to volunteer your skills through our community service benefit, HRG Volunteers.  Every full-time team member gets eight hours of paid time each year to donate to a community organization of their choice.  You can do this on your own or with other members of the team. (See examples of how team members have used their community service benefit on LinkedIn using the hashtag #HRGvolunteers.)

You’ll be part of an organization that’s committed to making a positive impact by sponsoring community events and donating to a broad range of charitable organizations.

“I like the work we do for local municipalities the best.  The most rewarding part of the job is driving around the community past signals and intersections I worked on.”

Zach Yiengst

Enjoying your work (and the team you work with)

As you can see, we take our work and the impact of our work seriously, but we also love to have fun.  HRG organizes numerous social activities throughout the year to foster friendship and make the workday more enjoyable:

  • Potlucks and picnic lunches
  • Team-building retreats
  • Friendly competitions

Talk to anyone at HRG, and they will tell you that the number one reason they love working here is the people they work with on their team.

“We’re a pretty tight group of people.  We bounce in between each others’ cubes to talk about work and life.  We also try to go to Pirate games or just get lunch together. It’s a great company to gain some friends that will last beyond the work hours.”

Dan Barna

“There’s lots of opportunities to get together outside of work and get to know each other on a more personal level, so you’re more comfortable working together.”

Brittany Bolmer

Building the career and life of your dreams

Your work is an important part of your identity, but it’s not the sum of who you are as a person.  You are a friend and a family member.  Maybe you’re passionate about the environment or music or sports.  Maybe you love to travel.  As you put graduation behind you, you’re building more than a career, you’re building a life for yourself.  You want to work for a company that helps you achieve your dreams in and outside the office.  HRG is that company.  We provide plenty of training and opportunity for professional advancement, but we give you the freedom and flexibility to take time for your other passions outside of work.

“One of the things I like best about HRG is the flexible schedules. I also like being able to work from home when I want and in the office when I want.”
