MSA Thruway

Our team assisted with final design, environmental permitting, and construction consultation for a 150-foot underpass beneath Route 228, a dedicated off ramp from I-79, and multi-modal features to improve connectivity, safety, and traffic flow. A redesigned ramp adds two lanes, giving drivers the option of merging left onto eastbound Route 228 or staying right to loop under 228. The loop provides access to a business park through a tunnel and roundabout, which was designed to reduce rush-hour back-ups by 40%. The design incorporates north-south multimodal connections underneath Route 228 and features a roundabout, sidewalks and bicycle lanes to provide accessibility for all workers, residents, and visitors. This large-scale project addresses significant transportation infrastructure needs for a heavily developed corridor serving residents, retail, recreational and medical facilities, as well as regional commuter traffic access to key employment centers.
