Planning & Design Practice Area Leader

As Planning & Design Practice Area Leader, Ms. Mendinsky is responsible for the group’s vision and strategy, staff development, project delivery, client management, and sales throughout HRG’s service area. She is also a project manager, assembling a team of land development, planning, and landscape architecture design professionals from throughout the company to serve her clients’ needs.

Ms. Mendinsky’s experience spans multiple market sectors and scales of design: from campus and community-wide planning to detailed commercial and civic site design and permitting. One common theme that ties her work together is social impact. She excels at stakeholder engagement, developing personal relationships with clients and various user groups to inform her design approach. She uses unique user input sessions and meeting facilitation methods to define the community character and incorporate it into the project.

She is adept at identifying and balancing user needs with implementation constraints (like financial feasibility) in order to create projects that are visionary yet achievable. Her work on the Clearfield Riverwalk project epitomizes this style. She compiled a detailed feasibility study that outlined numerous site constraints associated with brownfield redevelopment, adjacent railroad corridor safety, and riverside design and permitting. Through numerous meetings with review agencies and stakeholder input sessions, she was able to formulate a design that eliminated blighted properties and environmental hazards while developing a positive design experience and recreational amenity for the community.

RELATED EXPERIENCE

Ms. Mendinsky was previously a project manager with Derck & Edson, LLC, in Lititz, PA.  She completed designs for numerous plazas, donor recognition spaces, and athletic venues, but her primary specialty was master planning university campuses across Pennsylvania and New England.  The highlight of her work experience was designing and managing construction of the Pedestrian Commons at the University of Scranton.  This project skillfully balanced pedestrian and vehicular movements through the space, while incorporating multiple styles of seating and integrating the University brand through gateway elements and a cohesive material palette.
