Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) worked with Smithfield Township Economic Development Corporation (STEDCO) to develop approximately 42 acres of land acquired by Smithfield Township from the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon. HRG subdivided the land into parcels for commercial, retail, and light industrial sites, now known as Raystown Square. Over the course of a ten-year period, HRG worked to secure tenants for the site and provided various land development services to the new tenants of Raystown Square.
HRG was retained by Shaner Investments, Inc. for the anchor site, an 83-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. The hotel opened in 2011. The commercial portion of the subdivision became a Sheetz gas station and convenience store. For over a decade, HRG has provided diverse engineering and related services for Sheetz on nearly 60 projects. As part of the light industrial lots on the site, HRG completed land development plans for two facilities for N.E. Reihart & Sons, Inc. Both lots total over 55,000 square feet of light industrial space.
Raystown Square has become the economic hub of Huntingdon.
