We provided engineering services for the design of a roofed stacking structure, heavy use area, roof and storm water controls, reinforced gravel walkway, and stream crossing on a small beef farm. The planning also incorporated a stream buffer with exclusion fence and in-stream structures installed with cooperating agencies. These improvements were designed to prevent manure deposits in runoff from an earthen barnyard where manure is stored till it can be spread on the fields and are intended to improve water quality in Winfield Creek.
The structure is 52.5 feet wide by 40 feet long with a concrete slab and curbs to facilitate feeding and manure collection. The manure and bedding under the heavy use area are scraped to the stacking structure. In total, the structure and heavy use area provide close to 10,000 cubic feet of manure storage.
