We are currently retained to oversee the County’s inventory of 90 bridges and are helping to achieve the Bridge Plan’s objective of complying with the GOYORK 2045 Plan goal of reducing load posted and poor condition bridges. In addition to NBIS inspection services, our bridge engineers’ implemented a Bridge Program Management, developed a multi-year capital improvement plan (CIP), and updated the long-range Bridge Plan. Our veteran program management team collaborated with the County’s Planning Commission, Administration, and bridge maintenance staff to develop a customized CIP.
The goal of the CIP is to assist the County in identifying bridge replacement and preservation priorities and to provide planning level cost estimates, to enable the County managers to pursue funding opportunities, direct maintenance dollars to appropriate bridges, and provide elected officials an unbiased tool to use when communicating to the public the County’s replacement priorities. As a result of these efforts, York County has reduced its inventory of poor condition bridges by 79% in 5 years.
